Smealls Do Maui 2015 - Day 7 - A Day without a Nap!

Today we decided to do something different! Instead of going for our usual morning walk, we decided to head up to Lahaina for the morning. Since we didn't get to eat at Cheeseburger in Paradise the first day we went the Lahaina, we thought we'd go there for lunch today. We got to town right around 10am. It's a 45 minute drive from here. A pretty drive for sure, but long with Nat. She does well on the drive and her favorite part is the tunnel we get to go through.

We started with some shopping around town. It's funny because most of the shops were open by then, but some were not. We get the feeling that store owners around here just do kinda whatever they want as far as their hours. Like, the door will say they open at 10am, but it's more like 10:15 or 10:30 or just whenever they get there. The chill life...I like it!

We walked down to the Lahaina Marina which was so pretty and a busy place! It looked like a lot of boats were getting ready to take tours out, probably for whale watching. Natalie loved looking at the boats. After that we walked through the Banyan Tree again and there were lots of vendors out with their art. We saw a lot of cool photos and such.

Natalie has been getting really good at saying "AloooooooooooHA!" and she got a lot of practice during this shopping trip. It's pretty much a normal thing to walk in a store and be greeted that way. Well, Natalie sure is good a greeting them back. In one store she kept repeating herself over and over after she realized that everyone thought she was pretty funny! Silly girl!

We made our way to Cheeseburger in Paradise just in time to beat the lunch rush. You gotta be smart like that around here because when you have a ticking time bomb with you (aka Natalie needing her nap) you don't have time to wait for an hour. Our food was really yummy and the best part about it was the take home cup Natalie got! Oh and my Pina Colada and Joe's Mai Tai - those were pretty yummy too!

After lunch we popped into a few more stores since we knew we wouldn't be back to Lahaina again this trip. We knew we were pushing it for nap time a bit, but we figured she would rally...

We started our trip home around 1pm and were doing everything we could to keep Natalie awake. We were doing really well until she fell asleep just 15 minutes from the condo. And she fell asleep HARD! We figured since we were so close, we could just transfer her to bed and she would transition fine.

Wrong.

We transitioned and she woke.

And played in her bed for an hour and a half.

We went in multiple times to lay her back down. We bribed her with things. We tried all avenues and apparently that 15 minute power nap was all she needed. Dang us...we messed this one up.

Let's just say our "sunbathe" time wasn't all that peaceful listening to Natalie sing through the monitor. I mean, it was cute and all, but knowing what she could potentially be like in the evening was enough to make us cringe.

After that hour and a half fun fest in her crib, we decided to just get her up. We took her over to the pool. Our condo friends were there and LOVED playing with Nat in the pool. She loved playing with them as well. She let them push her all around the pool and kept calling them by name. It was super cute.

Shortly after the pool, Joe cooked us up some flank steak for dinner. YUM! After dinner we went for a walk. We figured the busier we could keep Natty, the better. We walked down to her park and let her play. We saw a really cute kitty on the way. We headed back home as the sun was starting to set.

Overall, Natalie did really well considering she only got a 15 minute nap. She never ceases to amaze us. And she fell asleep really fast at bedtime!

Another amazing day in the books! Here are some pics...Enjoy!
