Smealls Do Maui 2015 - Day 2 - SUN!

Awe! Nothing better than waking up to bright sun on day 2 in Maui! When we arrived on day 1 it was nice, but overcast. So to see the clear blue sky and sun the first morning we woke up here was just what we needed! Natalie had such a great first sleep (and so did we). We were up around 6:45am (this was way better than we expected with the time change) and done with breakfast around 7:30am. We headed out for a beautiful morning walk/jog. There were already lots of other people out and everyone was so happy and nice. We scoped out all the places in Kihei and then grabbed some coffee at a local shop and headed back to the condo to get our play clothes on.

We went to Kamole Beach 1 which has an AWESOME playground. Natalie was in playground heaven. After we played for a while, we went and sat on some rocks overlooking the ocean and watched the whales jumping while we had our snack. Natalie loved watching the whales and has been talking non stop about them ("I see whales jump!?"). We went back and played more on the toys and then headed home for lunch. Shortly after lunch Natalie went down for a nap. While she napped, Joe and I sat on the law off our patio and sunbathed. There was a nice breeze and perfect temp!

I got a little warm, so I decided to take a walk on the beach. We are right at a beach, which is so convenient. I walked down the beach a bit and to my surprise stumbled upon a HUGE turtle. There was one other couple there taking pics so I offered to take one of them and they took one of me. I can't even begin to describe how amazing these turtles are! Shortly after taking my pic, a local came by and asked us if we knew how long the turtle had been there. He seemed a little concerned that something might be wrong with it. The turtle was opening and closing its eyes, but didn't move at all. The local told us that sometimes they come on the beach to sunbathe, but usually don't stay long. I hurried back to the condo to tell Joe about seeing the turtle and Joe got a chance to go down and see it as well.

About 3 hours in to Natalie's nap we decided to wake her. We didn't really expect her to sleep so long, but apparently she was still catching up on her rest! Remember what I said about waking her in my prior post?? What were we thinking doing this again. Man, this girl can have some serious "tude" when you wake her early. Sheesh!

We headed in to Lahaina for some shopping and dinner. We had intended on going to Cheeseburger in Paradise for dinner, but to our surprise it was closed for a private party...whaa?!?! So we went to Bubba Gump instead. We had a nice dinner and stroll around Lahaina before heading back. We took Natalie to see the Banyan Tree and she loved going in and out of the shops. It wasn't crowded at all, which was so nice.

We headed back and got home just around Natalie's bedtime. She went down like a gem as usual. What a wonderful day!

Here's some pics...Enjoy!
