The Full Smeall Deal: Smealls Do Maui 2015 - Day 5

This morning started with a beautiful walk in to Kihei for breakfast. We realized there's a back way to go into town and it's so much quieter! And scenic! It's a residential street parallel to the ocean with some beautiful gate properties. It's fun to see all the nice houses and "dream" about one day owning one...HA! We found one for sale that has recently been reduced by 500k...and it's still 3.3M. We are going to have to get different jobs to afford that one!

Once we got in to town we had breakfast at the Kihei Café. We've been walking by this restaurant almost every morning and based on the line that wraps through the restaurant, we figured it was pretty good. It's an open air place, right on Kihei Road across from Kamole Beach 1 (or Natalie's playground we call it). We got there right before 8am and it was already packed! You wait in line and order, THEN you get to sit. So we traded Natalie shifts because she wasn't having anything to do with the line. Do you blame her? It took about 45 minutes to order, but it was worth it! Natalie and I shared pancakes and Joe had French toast. YUM!!

After breakfast we had our daily visit to the playground. Natalie does so well playing with all the other kids! I'm sure she misses her friends at school and it's so cute to watching her make new friends here. She asks for a lot of "two more minutes" when she's playing even though she usually has a lot more than that. It's pretty cute!

When we got back from the playground we got our sunscreen on and headed down to the beach. This was our first longer visit to the beach. Natalie was a big fan of the sand and shoveling it into her bucket, but she WAS NOT a fan of the waves. She seemed a little scared of them so we are going to work on that. Natalie and I had a nice little walk down the beach as well.

When we were done at the beach we headed home for lunch and nap. Natalie was so wiped out from our busy morning. She took a great nap while mommy and daddy sunbathed. Awwww!

After nap we decided we would explore more of the Kihei shops and then pick up sandwiches at a local shop and go have dinner on the beach. We had fun looking around in the shops and showed up at the sandwich place at 5:10pm to learn they closed at 5pm. DANG! Really?? On a Friday?? So we drove around looking for another place get something to take out. We wanted to get something local and not something we have at home. We ended up stopping at a roadside pizza stand. It was really cool they had a portable stand that had a wood oven that cooked our pizza. We took it to a beach and ate while watching the sun set. Fun way to end the night!
