Smealls Do Maui 2015 - Day 10 - Our Last Full Day

You won't believe this, but our usual morning routine was off today!

Natalie slept in longer than normal, so we skipped on our morning walk. We really wanted to go back to Big Beach at Makena today and we wanted to have time to enjoy it. So we got all ready, had breakfast and headed towards the beach. We still wanted Natalie to have her park time (and we still wanted our coffee) so we made a stop for both on the way.

When we got to the beach, it was beautiful as ever! We were just here the night before, but today there wasn't a cloud in the sky when we arrived. We got to the beach just before 10am and it was already pretty busy! We scoped out a spot and set ourselves down. Natalie loved playing in the sand and kept herself busy with it the entire time! Joe had lots of fun in the waves, and I was even able to go in myself. The waves were pretty big on this beach! At about noon we headed back.

We enjoyed lunch on the patio, finishing up the remainder of our groceries. We really planned well with what we bought for lunches and breakfast. It got us through our whole trip!

During nap time, Joe and I sunbathed a bit. It was the warmest day today, and after an hour or so we were both pretty sunned out! Joe headed in the condo to watch some March Madness, and I headed out for my last walk on our beach! There was a nice breeze so it felt good in the sun!

On my walk I came across some turtles AGAIN! I don't know what it is about my walks, but apparently I get lucky turtle sightings! I didn't see the turtles at first, in fact, I thought they were a rock. I just randomly happened to stop and take a picture of the water and then thought to myself "whoa, that rock is total moving!" I watched closer and sure enough it was two turtles...mating. HAHA!!! Well at least I assume that's what was happening. Or maybe they were just giving each other a ride. I think they got a little embarrassed...because not long after they separated. Hehe!

When Natalie got up from her nap, we got ready for our last dinner. We drove a little ways into Kihei, parked and then walked to dinner! We needed to get our walk in since we didn't get one this morning! We went into a few shops and then we went to Fred's Mexican for dinner. We got there right at 5pm which was good because it got really busy! Natalie and I shared chicken fajitas and Joe got a huge burrito. After dinner we walked some more (needed to burn off that food) and then watched the sun set. It was such a pretty sunset for our last night!

We found a great place to watch the sunset and the best part about it was that there was this dog playing on the beach. Natalie loved watching her dig holes, run after her stick, and then wash the stick in the water. It was pretty cute!

After sunset, it stayed light a little bit longer so we had time to make our second visit of the day to the park! Joe got a shaved ice at a little stand that we all shared for dessert!

It was a wonderful last day...just can't believe it's already over! Here's some pics...Enjoy!

Smealls Do Maui - Day 9 - A Day with no Agenda

We pretty much checked off all the things we wanted to do for sure on our trip, leaving these last couple days open for whatever. It's a nice way to end - not trying to cram any last minute things in, but instead just go with the flow and relax.

We started the morning with our usual walk for coffee and park play. I probably don't even need to type this part anymore, because by now you know it's our routine. It was a beautiful morning!

After we played at the park we stopped at a local farmers market for some pineapple and cucumbers. Natalie has sure become a fan of pineapple! She wanted to carry it until she realized it's a little prickly.

When we got back to the condo, we went and played in the pool! We were the ONLY ones in the pool area. It was so nice to have the place all to ourselves. We all had so much fun in the pool! Part of what is so nice about staying at a private condo is that it's typically really quiet, a lot of old people and owners. We don't have a lot of other visitors to deal with. Definitely feels more like home than a resort. In fact, Natalie has been calling our condo our "house" - sign we should just move??!! Hah!

After the pool we had our lunch and Natty went down for nap.

We planned to cook in tonight and Joe made us some yummy chicken. He also threw some of the pineapple on the BBQ which was a nice addition. We had an early dinner and then decided to go for a drive. We wanted to explore further into Makena and see what other beaches there were.

We found Big Beach and watched a beautiful sunset. We will most likely come back to this beach tomorrow. The water is so blue and the waves look big and fun!

On our way back into Kihei, we stopped in Wailea to make our second visit to a yummy ice cream shop. It's called Lapperts and it's so yummy!! I had white chocolate, macadamia nut ice cream. Good thing we are doing all the walking and jogging to balance out some of these calories ;)

That pretty much sums up our day. Here's some pics...Enjoy!

We went by this whale almost everyday and finally got a picture!

There's a series of pics here...Natalie would slowly get into the pool, starting at the stairs! She usually had me come sit next to her!
